Terms Of Service

The Altadena Academy of Music provides regular weekly music lessons that must be paid for in advance by the month. Payment is due on the 28th of each month for the following month. The student/parent must give notice by the 14th day of the prior month to suspend or cancel the music lessons.

Make-up lessons will be given at no additional charge, provided that 24 hours advance notice is given that a lesson will be missed. There are no refunds for missed lessons.

Make-up Lesson FAQ:

Q: How much notice should be given that a lesson will be missed?

A: Although 24 hours notice is the minimum to receive a make-up at no additional charge, we do appreciate as much notice as possible that a lesson will be missed.

Q: What is the best way to let the school know that a lesson will be missed?

A: Emailing the school at [email protected] is best. You will receive reply within one business day thanking you for the advance notice.

Q: How far in advance can make-up lessons be scheduled?

A: We can schedule make-ups for missed lessons up to 10 days in the future based on instructor availability.

Q: There is an emergency and I am unable to give 24 hours notice. Can I still receive a make-up lesson?

A: Make-up lessons are given at no additional charge provided that at least 24 hours advance notice is given that a lesson will be missed. Our teachers really appreciate this policy; however, we understand that sometimes things can come up suddenly. For that reason, although we charge less for months that have less than 4 lessons such as December, we don't charge extra for months that have 5 lessons and leave those built into the schedule as free lessons in case of emergency.

Q: What happens if my instructor is unable to attend a lesson?

A: We will arrange for a substitute teacher so that you can have your lesson as scheduled. If we are unable to arrange a substitute teacher, we will contact you to schedule a make-up lesson with your regular teacher at a mutually convenient time.

Q: Are there make-up lessons for days that the school is closed for school holidays & breaks?

A: No. We have found that it is much more practical to pro-rate the tuition rather than schedule make-up lessons for every student when we are closed for school holidays & breaks. If there are less than 4 lessons during a month when a school holiday or break occurs, then the tuition is reduced proportionately. If there are at least 4 lessons in a month when a school holiday or break occurs, then the regular tuition is charged.
